Cosmic Insights – December 16, 2024 December 15, 2024

The celestial week of December 16, 2024, begins with the Sun rising in adventuresome Sagittarius illuminating an opportunity to consciously seek the broad horizons of the meaning of life from a higher consciousness by stating one’s case with the courage of conviction.  On this day, the Sun in Sagittarius is approaching a black hole in Sagittarius known as the Galactic Center of the Milky Way Galaxy highlighting the awareness of an ability to project one’s vision for the highest evolutionary possibilities being transmitted from the soul for creation by shaping materials into form.

The Earth’s position resides in the opposite sign of Gemini, which sends a message that things are currently dormant and that there is no point in attempting to force growth now as the energy is being used to reinforce the roots for future growth in the Spring.  Thus, it is a time of reverent silence to give gratitude for the gifts already received consistently to support life’s journey.

Fortunately, Mercury has just stationed directly in Sagittarius with a message to open your heart to new opportunities and realizations about relating with others.  As Mercury moves forward gaining momentum, delayed projects and plans gear up for implementation.  However, the caveat is that Jupiter is the King of Sagittarius and is still retrograde in Gemini until February 4, 2025, so caution is key to taking action on promises that may not be delivered due to mixed messages.  As the phrase wisely states, if it feels too good to be true, it probably is.  

While the forward movement of Mercury in Sagittarius may also spark a desire for international travel, inclement weather may contribute to delays relative to air travel and on the roadways.  Therefore, staying close to home may be the best alternative to enjoying the holidays in peace until January 2, 2025.

Meanwhile, the Moon is wading in the emotional pond of Cancer with a message that self-care during the week preceding the Christmas celebration is a gift that continues to nurture what is personally desired and needed instead of placating the desires of others to continue reliving the memories of the ghosts of Christmas pasts.

The lunar landscape shifts dramatically on the evening of December 17, as the Moon strides confidently into joyous Leo with heartfelt emotions and a determined mission to uplift the energy of the holiday season with creative ideas and activities designed to engage the child-like spirit in everyone.  

The Moon’s first planetary interaction is with Pluto in Aquarius so the first task is to thaw out the exterior resistance to playing well with others by setting the stage with unusual suggestions that tweak the interest and then run with it with dramatic and unique overtones!  By the time the evening ends, humor and comradery have opened hearts in the anticipation of celebrating again!

Shortly after sunrise on December 18, the Sun in Sagittarius squares off with idealistic Neptune in Pisces as it challenges Neptune to take responsible actions to manifest the visionary dreams seeded in March 2024 into reality.

In the early hours of December 20, the Moon steps into task-oriented Virgo with a list of errands to accomplish in preparation for the holiday gatherings of the next few days.  As the Moon in Virgo is a boss in organizing time and energy to get the job done, it may enlist the aid of friends to finalize the last-minute details of cleaning, cooking, and shopping so everyone can relax and enjoy sharing with others without feeling grumpy, exhausted, and worn to a frazzle before the celebrations begin!

The week finishes with a grand finale in the wee hours of December 21, as a significant shift of energy and light returns when the Sun enters Capricorn announcing the Winter Solstice as the Sun is reborn.  When the Winter Solstice occurs the longest day and night are experienced since the solar year began at the Spring Equinox in 2024.  As such, it is a reminder to turn inward to the darkness within to seek the internal candle of light that burns brightly in gratitude for the breath of life to experience it.

Thus, it is a time of contemplative illumination about the purpose of one’s life and the responsible actions required to accomplish it.  On a mundane level, the intentions of the seeds planted at the Spring Equinox are providing a demonstration of the harvest of those intentions.
