Cosmic Insights – August 1, 2022

The celestial week of August 1, 2022, begins with the Sun rising in the grandiose rays of Leo, illuminating an opportunity to feel a temporary period of refreshment after a period of the long night of the soul, as awakening energies are signaling new beginnings.  Now that the Sun has reclaimed its rightful throne in the sky, the purpose of one’s life is reawakened as well as offering an opportunity to realign that purpose with the will of a higher power.

Meanwhile, the Moon is traveling through the meticulous sign of Virgo, reflecting the mental weeds that need to be pulled so the life purpose can thrive, instead of being choked out by worry and fear.  Mercury, the planetary CEO of Virgo is cruising through carefree Leo with a message to lighten up and allow Spirit to infuse your thoughts with creative energy and light.  

In fact, Mercury in Leo is the apex point of a dynamic yod configuration with Neptune in Pisces and Pluto in Capricorn symbolizing that the way out of difficult circumstances is to switch on an attitude of gratitude to take advantage of the opportunity to dissolve negative energy with the power of transformation.  Otherwise, it can be easy to continue upon the path of least resistance, which may be more comfortable yet yield no positive changes.

Shortly after lunch, the lunar phase becomes crescent as that small sliver of light in the night sky is opening a brief window of time to gather information relative to the intentions of the recent new moon cycle in Leo.  Fortunately, the Moon is in detailed and focused Virgo and in a beneficial relationship with Pluto in Capricorn offering a fortuitous time to focus mental resources on research relative to daily work routines, business goals and plans, and the financial investments necessary to manifest those intentions of the cycle.  

Later in the sunset hours, an unexpected hiccup may occur in relationships that could distract that focus, as Mars and Uranus unite at nineteen degrees of Taurus offering a new beginning of enormous potentiality that may include abrupt changes on the home front in terms of commitments to a person or project.  It may also be an indicator of committed relationships going their separate ways if values regarding finances and relating are incongruent.  Mars, the planet of action is tempted to move forward without a guarantee in place, so changes could be on the immediate horizon without a plan or designated outcome.

Last but not least, before the end of the day the Moon dances into charming Libra with an agenda to calm the mental chaos with soothing emotional feelings before sleep overtakes the weariness of the physical body into a restful slumber.  Meanwhile, Venus the ruler of Libra is wading in the waters of emotional Cancer with a nurturing and reassuring calm that presupposes that everything works out for the best when you believe and trust in yourself. 

It will be important to maintain that emotional balance during the next couple of days, as challenges, potential confrontations, and attitude adjustments arise to test the mettle of your emotional core.  A key to remember is that challenges can lead to opportunities, confrontations are really opportunities for illumination, and attitude adjustments open closed doors.

In the early hours of August 4, Mercury moves out of radiant Leo into conscientious Virgo with a keen eye for detail, so ideas, concepts, communication, technology, travel, and plans will be scrutinized under the microscope of Virgo for productiveness, cost-effectiveness, and the labor required for all plans and projects relative to daily routines, vehicles, and health. 

As Mercury moves through Virgo, there is also a message that now is the time to also consider the actions necessary for success until January 2023, as well as a backup plan when Mars moves into Gemini at the end of August to begin its retrograde cycle in the first week of September.  Challenges now is a heads up about what may begin to unravel then.

Shortly after the sun rises, the Moon dives below the surface of emotionally intense Scorpio with a laser focus on what is not being communicated but sensed.  Scorpio energy has a suspicious nature anyway, so it is not the time to push the envelope of trust, or dance around the truth as Scorpio does not play well with others when they aren’t trustworthy, and once the trust is lost, it is gone forever.  Fortunately, Mercury in Virgo is good at explaining the truth in a transparent and matter-of-fact manner, which Scorpio energy respects.  So with a little luck, you may walk away with slightly singed feelings instead of being scorched to the bone!

Minutes after the Sun rises on August 5, a first quarter lunar phase occurs as the Moon in Scorpio moves away from the Sun in Leo to seek emotional solace without the disapproving glare of the Sun.  Leo and Scorpio are both set in their ways, so it is best to let each one go their separate ways as the energy of the first quarter phase is similar to taking an active leap of faith, so trust issues may creep in if either tries to control the outcome of the cycle.  

On August 6, the emotional climate shifts when the Moon jumps into optimistic Sagittarius for an adventuresome road trip!  Even though Jupiter the ruler of Sagittarius has recently retrograde in Aries, enthusiasm is not dampened for new horizons!  In fact, it is probably a great time to take a much-needed break from the heat of summer, politics, news, and world events to recharge emotional batteries for the next wave of energy coming in. 

On the morning of August 7, the gibbous solar phase of the yearly solar cycle occurs when the Sun reaches fifteen degrees of Leo setting up inherent wobble energy about the intentions seeded at the Spring Equinox.  The wobble is similar to veering off the road being traveled upon with a lack of attention to the details required to complete the journey.  The key to straightening the wheel is to contemplate the progress already made and what is required to receive the harvest of the cycle.  

At this point in the cycle, this is also considered to be a celebration of the first harvest, known in the Celtic culture as Lammas, meaning the first harvest.  Thus, now is a time to give gratitude for the blessings of the first harvest received to encourage the multiplication of the blessings.  It is also symbolic of growing a vegetable garden to sustain oneself and share with others, as well as the lesson and the blessing of two fish and five loaves to feed five thousand from the Master teacher many years ago.

On the afternoon of August 7, Mars in Taurus squares off with Saturn in Aquarius in a first quarter phase in the Mars/Saturn cycle that began on April 4, 2022, at twenty-three degrees of Aquarius.  While the cycle began with a united intention then, Mars has the desire to move forward on a leap of faith without the approval from Saturn, creating a contentious conflict between actions and commitments.  However, the solution lies in taking action with reservations and responsibility for the action taken if it doesn’t work out as planned
